What to look for this week
October is a good month for finding all sorts of fungi from the Yellow Stagshorn with its bright orange antler-like branches which are often forked near the tips which give it the common name of Jelly Antler Fungus – look for this on the roots and stumps of conifers.
Also look out for Bracket fungi which grow on trees, cap facing up and the spore producing surface facing downwards.
To be safe, we recommend that no fungi should be picked.
